What is Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA) ?
AHAs are natural cosmetic active ingredients derived from fruit or plant sugars. They include malic acid (apples, pears, etc.), citric acid (citrus fruit), lactic acid (red fruit, etc.) and glycaemic acid (sugar cane, etc.).
Their main action is to eliminate the dead cells on the surface of the epidermis that can give the skin a dull appearance, dilated pores and a blurred complexion.
They will restore radiance, smooth the epidermis, boost micro-circulation, reduce fine lines and improve skin elasticity. They also even out uneven skin tone, reactivate natural collagen production and fade pigmentation spots. They are also highly effective on acne-prone skin, fighting blackheads and blackheads.
But from the moment you start using this serum, it's best to protect yourself every time you go out in the sun, for up to 7 days afterwards. This is because the peeling action of AHAs, also known as the keratolytic effect, will increase your skin's sensitivity to the sun. So it's best not to use it in summer.
